Halo On Jury Duty for FEST 2024

Halo returned as sponsors and members of the competition jury to the beautiful seaside town of Espinho, Portugal for another year of FEST; New Directors, New films festival.

Now in its 20th year, FEST is a wonderful event that attracts some of the most experienced and admired film professionals to mentor and share their experience with up and coming filmmakers. There are also over 200 features and shorts on offer across the town as well as parties, pitch forums, network dinners, music, galleries and of course, awards.

Speaking at the many excellent industry masterclasses were makeup and FX specialist, Mark Coulier who was responsible for incredible prosthetics for Poor Things, Harry Potter and Star Wars and has worked with Jim Carey, Willem Defoe and Meryl Streep. He is an extraordinary talent and also the nicest bloke from Lanashire you’re ever likely to meet!

Also speaking at the festival were On-Set Sound mixer Mark Ulano and his partner Utility Sound Expert, Patrushkha Mierzwa who are at the top of their game with credits such as Scorsese’s ‘Killers of the flower moon’, Tarentino’s ‘Once Upon a time in Hollywood’, and James Cameron’s ‘Titanic’.
It was also fantastic to see Film PPS Polly Duval, Producer Finola Dwyer, Director Pete Travers and of course FEST regular and legendary sound supervisor and editor, Eddy Joseph.

We loved hanging out with everyone from FEST, and thank you to all the organisers, partners and volunteers who make this festival so special. Here’s to 2025!
