Selection Day is a Netflix Original based on Aravind Adiga’s coming of age novel, about two brothers who pursue their dreams to become the future of India’s national game. Set against the backdrop of the game’s insurmountable competition and deep seeded corruption, the brothers must overcome all odds to become the next star cricketers under the watchful eye of their father who sees the boy’s success as his ticket out of anonymity and poverty.

”The series was shot in Mumbai an infamously noisy city, so the sound department were tasked with cleaning up and preserving audio quality during the post production process. Not only did this require a large amount of ADR but the sound design was instrumental in bringing the vibrant landscape to life without becoming lost in the ambience of India’s capital. The unique content of the scenes allowed much freedom when it came to shaping and manipulating the soundscapes. At many points throughout the series we shift into the headspace of lead protagonist ‘Munju’, and the auditory landscape of his reality is completely stripped away. Another example of this is during the visits from the omnipotent Lord Subramaniya, which moves us into an extremely subjective point of view where the two characters are suspended into a sonic world that transcends time and space. .’’
